Pilot TOPAZ reanalysis (2003-2008)

Speaker:
Pavel Sakov
Seminar Date:
9. September 2010 - 11:00 - 12:00

The pilot TOPAZ reanalysis is produced for MyOcean project for the period
2003-2008. It precedes the main (20-year) reanalysis and is now quickly
approaching the finish line.

We present some outcomes of the reanalysis, including characteristics of the
TOPAZ4 data assimilation system, DFS and SRF diagnostics, innovation
statistics, and some early validation attempts.

"Modelling the Benguela Current System" - using ROMS model

Speaker:
Dr. Jennifer Veitch, University of Cape Town and Nansen-Tutu Center
Seminar Date:
8. September 2010 - 10:15 - 11:00

The influence of Indonesian Through Flow on the Indian Ocean-a model study

Speaker:
Madhusoodanan M.S., NERCI
Seminar Date:
10. August 2010 - 12:15 - 12:45

Sea ice modeling in the Fram Strait

Speaker:
Dany Dumont, NERSC
Seminar Date:
1. July 2010 - 13:45 - 14:15

Numerical modelling of the interactions of ocean waves and sea ice

Speaker:
Luke Bennetts, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Otago, New Zealand
Seminar Date:
1. July 2010 - 13:00 - 13:45

In this talk I will introduce the assumptions and methods that are typically used when modelling interactions between ocean waves and sea ice. I will then describe the stages through which the field has progressed to produce the current representation, which is ready to be assimilated into oceanic circulation models.
